How to Clean Your UGG Boots

With sleet on the ground and chilly temperatures all around, you can feel the moisture in the air as winter approaches. You layer on long johns under your colored denim and a thermal to keep you cozy under your favorite holiday print sweater. To the fashion-conscious, the outside weather could mean one thing — your sheepskin/leather boots are at risk of staining and discoloration. Not necessarily. UGG® Australia has ensured a way of protecting your most precious footwear, no matter how dire your situation.

For those who plan ahead:

Take the first step to protect against water damage and staining. The UGG® Australia Sheepskin Water and Stain Repellent is your new best friend.

First, make sure your boots are clean and dry, and go to a well-ventilated area. Shake the bottle. Holding it about six inches away from the boot, spray the sheepskin evenly until the boot appears wet, but not soaked.

Now, tuck them away somewhere in your house, out of direct sunlight. After 24 hours of drying time, use the suede brush from the UGG® Australia Sheepskin Care Kit to lightly brush the upper in one steady direction.

For those who prefer to move first, think later:

Maybe there’s a pesky spot on your favorite boots or you have a classic pair that is starting to show some wear. The UGG® Australia Sheepskin Cleaner and Conditioner refurbishes and rejuvenates your boots’ look.

First, wet a sponge with cold water and lightly dampen the entire boot evenly to ensure equal drying and avoid visible water lines.

For best results, dilute the solvent with ½ water and ½ cleaner. Apply a dime-sized amount of the diluted cleaner to the wet sponge and gently scrub your boot. Do not apply the cleaner directly to the sheepskin. When finished, scrub your boot with another dry, clean sponge to remove excess residue.

Pro tip: Stuff your boots with paper towels to speed up the drying process and help maintain their shape.

For those who simply need a little pick-me-up:

We’ve all been there. We’re running a little late for lunch, so we throw on our UGG® Australia boots without socks and we jet out the door. With a lining made of super comfy UGGpure wool, it only seems right. But after so many barefoot days, there can be a lingering smell.

Not to worry, the UGG® Australia Sheepskin Freshener, available in the UGG® Australia Sheepskin Care Kit, is surprisingly handy.

Spray a little inside each boot to eliminate odor caused by bacteria and keep boots fresh. For best results, let your boots dry naturally for 24 hours. You’ll be on your way to revitalized feet in no time.

Just like that, your sheepskin boots are nearly invincible to the outside world, so get out there and show them off!

NOTE: All UGG® Australia boots are hand-wash only. Never put your boots in the washing machine or take them to the dry cleaner. With proper care and cleaning, your footwear will last longer, but, like any fine garment, sheepskin is delicate and not all stains can be prevented or removed.

Thanks for sharing these different Ugg boot cleaners to prevent stains and dirt. I actually don’t have Uggs, but I have been thinking of getting some, especially since they are so soft and warm. They would be absolutely perfect for late night strolls or lounging around. However, I’d definitely get some conditioner as well since I have a tendency to slip shoes on without thinking about it.
