Earth Day is finally here! We should be focusing on green habits throughout the entire year, but if you haven’t gotten around to it, why not start today? We’ve created a quick list of six easy Earth Day activities. These are things you can do right now to better the planet, both today and for the entire year to come.
The toilet is responsible for up to 30 percent of the home’s total water usage. Take a couple simple steps toward wasting less water:
- Test for leaks by adding a few drops of food coloring to the tank, then waiting to see if it appears in the bowl without flushing the toilet. If there’s a leak, flappers are inexpensive and easy to replace without tools.
- Create your own toilet dam by filling plastic bottles with sand so that they remain at the bottom of the tank. The bottles will displace water that would have otherwise filled the tank so that the toilet uses less water each time it’s flushed.
