In its first-ever fashion trend report, Google is sharing data on what people are searching for when it comes to clothing. Particularly, three trends are seeing “sustained growth,” meaning the trend has been receiving steady growth over the past few years, and it’s just about to take off.
We thought we could offer up some inspiration on how to wear the styles by referring to some of our favorite fashion bloggers of the moment.
First on the list of up and coming trends is tulle skirts. The dreamy, flirty look is growing in popularity, up 34% from January 2014 to January 2015. The most popular colors are black and white, of course, but these fun skirts are available in any shade. Like these fashion bloggers did, you can style the look with a leather jacket for a surprising blend of edgy and sweet. We have fallen hard for the casual pairing of sneakers and tulle, but romantic heels are super flattering too!
This casual-cool trend has seen the most lasting appeal from the normcore and activewear days. Google reports people search for joggers in every material and pattern, with emoji, leather, and camouflage receiving the most interest. We’re head-over-heels for the way these women styled the relaxed trend, from adding a super cool bomber jacket to a smart blazer. Or simply pairing them with a t-shirt and clean white sneaks. All of the looks are stunning and inspirational. There is such a thing as comfortable and stylish!
Midi skirts are the ultimate in-between style, shorter than a maxi and definitely not a mini. They’re perfect for elegant looks, or office-appropriate attire. But Google reports the top searches for midi skirts include “how to wear” and “outfits,” indicating people are looking for advice and inspiration on styling the trend. That’s where these fashion bloggers come in. Try a pleated midi with a patterned sweater and booties for a look that’s date night fab. Or a bandage midi skirt with a crop top and platform heels is cute for a night out with the girls. Or, if you’re looking to wear the trend to work, try a button-front denim midi with a smart jacket or blazer. You really can’t go wrong.
With the 70s making a huge comeback, it’s hard to decide which trend to try first. Then we see each of these fashion bloggers in white jumpsuits and we instantly envy how swanky they look. The stark white, clean look is only made better by swish-swashing pant legs and deep V-neck cuts. Google pegs this trend as seasonal, meaning it’s growing in popularity and this spring will see its peak. So try this look out now, and take a page out of these ladies’ books by accessorizing with neutral colors and delicate jewelry.
Beach days are ahead of us, and we’re super excited to see high-waisted bikinis as a seasonal trend. Their shape is flattering, vintage, and oh-so-charming. Take a tip from these gorgeous gals and style your suit with oversized sunnies, a lace kimono, or just opt for retro hair styling. All are perfect, beach-appropriate looks. Or, Google says, neoprene swimsuits are on the rise. Although it reports the trend may be fleeting, go for what suits you best. We can almost hear the waves crashing!
