Beatrice Gutu’s style is a delightful cocktail of relaxed femininity, menswear-chic, and minimalist monochrome. It’s never a surprise to spot the darling European native in a tried-and-true duster coat styled with a pair of pointed boots or slip-on shoes, and while her outfits are altogether inspiring, her execution leaves the look feeling completely effortless and attainable. That’s why we’re crushing so hard.
Beatrice, 20, began her blog The Fashion Cuisine in 2012. She hails from a tiny country called Moldova, but, since September, she has been based out of Dusseldorf, Germany. Between going to school for graphic design and writing blog posts about her daily life and inspirations, Beatrice’s style has evolved into a masterful simplicity. She talks about spending more time in the men’s department than the women’s, and her affinity for androgynous designs. Some days, she flawlessly rocks an oversized sweater (pictured below, left) that actually belongs to her boyfriend.
“As much as I like seeing him wear it, I like it most when it’s on me,” she writes.
As if that weren’t enough, we’ve never seen anybody rock mom jeans quite like her (see above, right). She takes casual, slouchy-chic to the next level. Whether bundled up in neutrals or stripping them down to the minimum in a pair of shorts and (yet again) a perfectly oversized top, we never knew a white-grey-black color palette could be so stunning. She lives in basics, and we can’t get enough.
Aside from her regular outfit posts, Beatrice offers inspirational images and a weekly round-up of her favorite Tumblr finds. When she takes holidays to new countries, she documents her travels for us all to see, and quietly envy after. This past year, she traveled to Spain and Amsterdam, adjusting her style to the city life with ease.
For a self-proclaimed fan of cloudy weather, she couldn’t look more at home soaking up the Spanish sun and pulling off smashing summer-ready looks.
But it’s the sleek oxfords, turtlenecks, highwaisted ripped jeans, and super cool round sunglasses that caught our attention first. We were so obsessed with her style that we put together a few “Shop The Look” inspiration boards featuring items we carry at Designer Studio (many stolen from the men’s department, just like Beatrice would do).
