Slip Them On and Go in Style

Gone are the days of laces and Velcro – today’s fashionable shoes offer a lace-free style that you can slip into and out the door.  Everything from canvas to wedge heels, to ballet flats and loafers offer the easy option of slipping them on for those of us who are always on the go.

Easily slip into a stylish pair of dressy wedge heels with a peep-toe and add a feminine touch to your office attire.  Or, give your feet a break from heels, and slide your feet into a pair of ballet flats with a decorative bow, buckle, or gem on the toe.  For every day running around, TOMS® shoes are the perfect answer.  Durable canvas or burlap, cushioned insoles, and a variety of styles and colors make these shoes a must-have for your wardrobe.

For the hazy days of summer hanging out at the beach or the boardwalk, a simple pair of canvas uppers with a lace-free style is the perfect choice.  Wearing your favorite summer sundress to a picnic or get-together?  Slip into TOMS®wedge heels made with a canvas upper, a peep-toe and a cork wedge heel for that oh-so-breezy summer look.

If you like ankle boots, but it’s too hot to wear them, try these botas from TOMS®.  Lightweight and breathable, you can wear them during the hot summer months paired with shorts and a tank.  You’ll enjoy the comfort of hidden elastic straps that give you a secure fit when you wear them without laces, and a latex arch insert for added support.

Dress It Up – Without Wearing a Dress

Unleash your girly side this summer and take the feminine approach to your office wardrobe without wearing a dress.  We’re seeing more and more soft, romantic, flirty styles showing up from the office to the boardroom, and everywhere in between.  There are so many styles from glamorous to trendy and from classic to romantic that we’re sure you’ll find just the right top for the look you want to create.  You can find a variety of dressy blouses that offer a cooler alternative during the hot summer months than the usual office attire.

What can you expect to find when you’re shopping for dressy blouses? Blouses made with silk, ruffles, cute prints, and soft fabrics allow for easy movement and a casual summer look while still keeping with the office dress code.  Unique details such as ruchings, pleats, flowy sleeves, and lace offer just the right touches of feminine glamour and style so you stand out from the crowd.

If you’ve got an after-hours dinner party to go to or Happy Hour with the girls, it’s easy to take your look from day-to-night with a few simple ideas.  Start out with a dressy blouse in a neutral color with classic touches like ruffles and lace, and then add accessories like jewelry, scarves, and belts to create multiple looks.

Endless Summer

Designers are riding the wave for spring with everything from floral board shorts to cozy après-surf knits. One thing is for certain, the Spring 2013 collections are going to be all about beach style. Get excited about what’s coming up, while enjoying the summer sun now. DSS helps you end summer 2012 strong.

Are you enjoying your summer? We are! Between trips to the beach, camping, and general relaxation, we wish summer would never end! Fortunately, the trends on the spring 2012 runways are showing designers are already anxious for next summer to start. Women’s Wear Daily is reporting a bevy of runway fashions inspired by a yearning for the beach and summer life. Everything from floral board shorts to après-surf knits are popping up in spring collections.

Flapper Girl: As noticed earlier this spring, the roaring 20’s flapper look is in and will continue to be strong in the Spring 2013 collections.  You’ll see flowy dresses, drop-waists, flowing calf-length skirts, sleeveless tops, feathers, and head bands as part of this style.  We’re seeing emerging deco patterns, plunge necklines, fringe and metallics accenting the look that works well for a night out enjoying the cool breeze from the ocean.

Flower Child
: The embodiment of spring and summer, flowers are blooming everywhere from floral patterned blouses to shoes with flower motifs. Romantic themes, patterned pants, flowy dresses with bright floral prints, dressy blouses with fluttery sleeves, and flirty pencil skirts are trending for Spring 2013.  Feminine touches like pleats, ruchings, lace and accessories enhance the look you can show off at the boardwalk or a summer barbecue.

Beach Babe: Lush tropical florals and print-heavy themes abounded this past spring, and we’re seeing it continuing in Spring 2013.  Maxi dresses, jumpsuits, halters, and sarongs are all showing up in vibrant tropical colors and patterns, accented by shrugs, scarves, light summer jackets, and asymmetrical hemlines that are perfect for a stroll along the sandy shore.

Boho Chick:  Bohemian rebelliousness came alive in Spring 2012 and looks to be showing up in the trends for 2013 with patchwork vests, cutoff jean shorts, flowing maxi shirts and dresses, and one shoulder silhouettes.  Vintage graphics and fringe details accentuate the look, while accessories like sunglasses, scarves, feathers, and belts add just the right touch for a day spent shopping in an open-air market or walk along the boardwalk.

Sports Star: Athletic prowess showed fierce competitiveness on the runway this past Spring, and it looks like we’ll be seeing more of it in Spring 2013 with sporty references in fashion. Popular athletic colors like red, white, and blue sprinkle the runways, and preppy stripes, athletic numbers, jersey shirts, raglan sleeves, and color-blocking all play a part in this winning style.  It’s the perfect look to stand out from the crowd when you and your friends are hanging out at the ballpark.

BONJOUR! Few days ago I found this white blazer. I love how dressy and at the same time casual it is. I would say this is the perfect white blazer, I was looking for forever! The elegance of this piece makes it super easy to pair, just go all white or neutral. My outfit is a combination of both.

HELLO! Last weekend I went for a walk to the marina in San Diego and was inspired by the area where history merges with modern live. I saw some fascinating ships and one of them caught my attention –  The Start Of India.  It is so beautiful! Did you know that this is the world’s oldest active sailing ship? Just a few steps away, while crossing the railroad my hat almost got blown away by fast moving trolley:) It was so sudden that I got a little frightened, but that image is worth it!

P.S. 3 more days for my birthday! yay!

Lucia is wearing: Top from Designer Studio,  skirt from H&M.
